Bearded Man
Bearded Man
Acrylic on Paper
11” x 7.5”
1996

This artwork was created as an assignment for my college painting class. Done as an exercise to loosen us up and get the creative process going, our teacher would have us pick out famous paintings, give us about 1 minute to quickly draw them out then a couple of minute to do multiple versions of the artwork with different methods and styles of paintings. Sometime we had a broad range of colors to choose from and other times she challenged us with very limited palettes. In this particular work I started with a classic painting of a renaissance man (The name of the painting escapes me at this moment). We were given a limited palette for this one and this is one of many that were done. For this exercise we were tasked to make several copies and work on them about a minute per piece to loosen up.
