Papa
Mixed Media (Acrylic, Ink, Sharpie) on Cardboard
4.5” x 6.75”
2025

My latest piece, "Papa", is a 4.5” x 6.75” mixed media work on cardboard created with acrylic, ink, and sharpie. The composition features a rhythm of rounded rectangular shapes layered over a fiery red and orange background—like echoes of memory, warmth, and legacy. Some of these forms are filled with soft beige, others with a muted gray-blue, and several are simply outlined in metallic silver or gold. The arrangement feels like a visual language, each shape a symbol or moment—some bold and present, others distant or unfinished. It’s abstract, but deeply personal—an emotional geometry that speaks to the presence and impact of a father figure.

The title "Papa" speaks volumes, and though the image isn’t a literal portrait, the energy of the piece feels like a tribute. The red and orange tones pulse with life and love, while the interplay of color and metallic outlines nod to the complexity and richness of paternal bonds. It’s about strength, structure, and the quiet grace of someone who holds things together, often without needing the spotlight. This piece is small, but it holds a world of emotion and gratitude in its tight, vibrant frame.
