Word on the Street
My latest artwork is titled "From One Lover To Another Ah Ha!" and it measures 8.75 x 5.5 inches, painted with acrylic on recycled cardboard. The background is a fiery mix of red and orange, setting the stage for a playful yet layered message. The phrase "from one lover to another" appears in bold graffiti bubble letters in orange, outlined with yellow Sharpie, while "ah ha!" is tagged in yellow with quick, expressive strokes. This piece is equal parts tribute, commentary, and humor, drawing inspiration from the classic duet Islands in the Stream by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
Beyond the surface, it is a piece about communication in relationships—what we say, what we mean, and what gets lost in translation. It also carries the weight of an inside joke, giving it a personal resonance while keeping it open to interpretation. The contrast between the vibrant street art style and the softness of the lyrical reference creates a tension that mirrors real conversations between lovers. Bold, nostalgic, and a little cheeky, this work invites viewers to look, smile, and maybe think a little deeper.
