My latest piece, "Hurt", is an 8.5" x 11" gel plate transfer portrait of Johnny Cash near the end of his extraordinary life. Created using just four colors—gray, medium blue, dark blue, and black—this artwork captures the raw emotion etched into his face, especially those unforgettable eyes that seem to carry the weight of every song, loss, and redemption he ever lived through. Overlaid with partial lyrics from his haunting cover of Trent Reznor’s "Hurt", the words flow with the image but never obscure the power of his gaze.
Johnny Cash has always fascinated me. His journey through love, pain, faith, addiction, and redemption speaks volumes, and his music has a way of cutting straight to the soul. This piece is my tribute to the man who could say so much with so little—a legend whose voice and presence continue to resonate deeply.
