This is my latest artwork titled "Poli la Sirenita en Aqua," part of a two-part series alongside "Poli Piscina," created for my dear friend Andreina and her brother. This piece is a gel plate print inspired by a beautiful photograph of their sweet sister by the pool. Though Poli is no longer with us, her presence continues to echo through the love and memories kept alive by her family. I have had the honor of hearing Andreina speak of her sister with such tenderness and grace that I felt moved to translate that love into visual form. Through her stories, I came to understand Poli not only as a cherished sister but also as someone who brought a lasting kindness to the world.
For this painting, I chose teals, shimmering and glittering pigments, and soft beige tones to create a feeling reminiscent of 1950s Miami Beach Art Deco. The palette and textures aim to capture the sunlight, water, and timeless elegance of that era, all while reflecting the gentle spirit that Poli embodied. Both pieces in the series were created in succession and are deeply connected, each carrying subtle variations that make them unique yet intertwined—just like siblings who share a bond but stand as individuals.
