Give Me Patience
Give Me Patience
Acrylic on Cardboard
8” x 11”
2025

This painting came from a place of restraint and surrender rather than force. I approached the surface without a fixed outcome, allowing color and gesture to lead while I responded in real time. The layered blocks and sweeping marks reflect moments of hesitation and momentum, where patience was not just a theme but a requirement. Each decision builds on the last, leaving traces of what was covered, corrected, or intentionally left unresolved.

The composition moves between structure and looseness, echoing the tension I often feel between control and acceptance. Softer greens and blues drift through heavier, earthier passages, creating a quiet dialogue between calm and friction. Scratches, smears, and overlapping planes speak to time passing and emotions settling unevenly. Nothing here is meant to be pristine. The surface holds evidence of effort, doubt, and persistence.

For me, this work is about learning to sit with discomfort and trust the process even when clarity is delayed. It reflects the understanding that growth rarely arrives all at once but through accumulation and repetition. This painting asks for slowness from both the maker and the viewer, offering its meaning gradually rather than immediately. It stands as a reminder that patience is not passive but active, layered, and earned.
