St. Teresa of Avila
St. Teresa of Avila
Acrylic on Cardstock (Gel Plate)
8.5” x 11”
2026

This painting, St. Teresa of Avila, began with a simple but powerful message from one of my followers who reached out because a close friend of hers was going through a difficult time. She wanted to send something that carried hope, prayer, and love, something that could remind her friend that she was not alone in her struggle. As I began working on the piece, the intention behind it grew deeper. What started as a portrait inspired by that request slowly evolved into something more personal and reflective, ultimately becoming a self portrait within the image of St. Teresa. I approached the work with the same compassion and sincerity that my follower expressed for her friend, allowing that energy to guide every brushstroke.

Over the past few years I have had the privilege of hearing so many incredible stories from people who have reached out through my work. These exchanges often arrive in the most humble way, through messages and letters that feel less like requests and more like shared moments of humanity. This painting is a reflection of that connection. There are so many good and wonderful people in this world, and many of their stories have found their way to my door, or perhaps more accurately my mailbox. For that I remain deeply grateful. Each story reminds me that art can carry hope, faith, and kindness from one person to another, and that is a gift I never take for granted.
