In my latest portrait, titled "Grandpa Teo", I wanted to capture a milestone moment for my family. This piece holds a special place in my heart as it is a painting of my father and my children's grandfather. Remarkably, despite my years as an artist, this marks the very first time he has ever explicitly asked me to paint him. Having him request a portrait was both an honor and a deeply personal assignment.

The portrait aims to balance the natural passage of time with an enduring inner spirit. I intentionally tried to capture him exactly as he is, later in life, embracing the silver in his hair and the fine lines that tell the story of his journey. Yet, beneath those features, I wanted to showcase that same spark and distinct way of looking at the world that he has held steadfastly since his youth. His warm, knowing gaze and steady smile serve as a bridge between the young man he once was and the beloved patriarch he is today.

Visually, "Grandpa Teo" showcases a compelling blend of detailed linework and vibrant color choices. The meticulous cross-hatching and stippling techniques give form and texture to his features, contrasting beautifully against the rich, dark blue of his shirt and the lush, layered green tones of the background. This artistic approach creates a striking sense of depth, ensuring that the final portrait feels as lively, dynamic, and full of character as Grandpa Teo himself.
