Ruins, Structures and Architecture
"The Lighthouse," an unfinished piece started in 2018, stands as a poignant reminder of a creative journey left intentionally incomplete. Depicting a coastal lighthouse perched atop a cliff wall and overlooking a vast sea on a serene, pastel morning, the painting marked an intentional deviation from my signature style to push new artistic boundaries. However, halfway through its creation, the piece lost its grip on my vision as I yearned for a deeper challenge. Unresolved yet full of feeling, the canvas captures traces of brushstrokes frozen in time, capturing a raw moment of artistic transition.
Rather than remaining hidden away, the painting ultimately found a higher purpose beyond the studio. It became one of three original works I donated to the Hialeah Adult Centers for a community raffle auction. In passing the unfinished canvas forward, "The Lighthouse" was given a fresh chapter, offering its subtle morning light to a new home and extending an open invitation for another artist or observer to complete its story in their own mind.
Behind every finished canvas lies an unseen path of doubt, vulnerability, and the constant search for growth. "The Lighthouse" serves as a testament to the quiet struggles artists face when stepping outside their comfort zones and knowing when to let a project go. It honors the beauty of the unfinished, reminding us that an artist's journey is defined not just by the pieces we complete, but by the courage to evolve through every stage of the creative process.
