Winona
Acrylic on Cardstock (Gel Plate)
8.5” x 11”
2025

Winona is an 8.5" x 11" acrylic painting on cardstock, created as the second piece in a two-part portrait series honoring an extraordinary mother and daughter duo. This vibrant portrait focuses on the daughter — a symbol of joy, resilience, and creativity — rendered through a gel plate transfer technique. Her hot pink hair, matching lips, light pink shirt, and a soft mustard hat pop against a serene light blue background, infusing the piece with youthful vibrance and electric energy. Winona celebrates not only the subject’s individuality but also the generational strength and beauty passed down from a powerful, inspiring mother.

Lately, painting portraits of those I love has become a deeply meaningful practice for me — a way to preserve their presence in a form that might outlast time itself. Through Winona, I’m sharing the story of a young girl shaped by strength and surrounded by love, and by extension, honoring the legacy of the remarkable women in her life. My friends and family are full of richness, complexity, and quiet heroism. Their stories deserve to be seen, felt, and remembered — and this painting is one more way of making that happen.
