Her Name Gives Me Anxiety
Her Name Gives Me Anxiety
Mixed Media (Acrylic and Ink on Cardboard)
5.5” x 6.5”
2025

"Her Name Gives Me Anxiety" is a deeply personal mixed media piece that captures the weight of emotion tied to a single name. The intersecting pastel lines create a chaotic yet delicate backdrop—representing the tangled memories, unresolved feelings, and lingering thoughts that surface at just the mention of her name. Written in soft blue cursive ink, the phrase feels almost hesitant, as if whispering a truth too heavy to say out loud. But anxiety is never quiet. The word "Anxiety" is scrawled boldly in overpowering orange, bleeding into the blue and creating a deep, murky shade—symbolizing how something once light can be swallowed by fear, overthinking, and the weight of the past.

This 5.5" x 6.5" piece is about the visceral reaction a name can bring—the way it can stop you mid-thought, stir something in your gut, and make your chest tighten before you even realize why. It's about how certain names are more than words; they carry histories, regrets, and wounds that haven’t fully healed. The contrast of soft pastels with the intense overlay mirrors the struggle between trying to move forward and feeling pulled back into an emotional storm. Some names are written in our past, but their echoes still linger.
