This is my latest painting of my late uncle—one of the many heroes we honor on Memorial Day. A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, he dedicated decades of his life to serving both in the Navy and the Air Force. After his military service, he continued protecting others as a police officer for Miami-Dade County for over 30 years. Night after night, he would kiss his children goodnight, then head out into the unknown to serve and protect our community, never certain he'd return. His strength, courage, and unwavering commitment to others were nothing short of heroic.

He passed away last year of natural causes, but his impact endures. His legacy lives on in his loving wife, two sons, and grandchildren—and in every life he touched along the way. The world is a better, safer place because of his sacrifices and service. I created this painting not just as a tribute to him, but as a way to keep telling his story for generations to come. I hope it inspires others to remember and honor those who serve with such selflessness and love.
