Word on the Street
“Love” is an 8.5" x 11" abstract artwork that explores the emotional evolution and complexity of love through layered color and form. Using a palette of beige, red, pink, and tan, the background sets a warm and harmonious tone—soft, fluid, and reminiscent of the tender beginnings of a relationship. On top of this are square brushstrokes in rusty orange, beige, and dark red, bringing a sense of order and weight. The layering of yellow lines and red square patterns, each aligned either horizontally or vertically, introduces structure—suggesting how love can become more defined, more patterned, sometimes more rigid.
Across the beige squares, the word “love” is delicately written in red cursive ink, flowing like a whisper or a memory throughout the piece. This contrast of soft script against a backdrop of strict geometry speaks to the duality within love: its beauty and its boundaries, its spontaneity and its expectations. The artwork invites reflection on how relationships shift—from freedom to structure—and how that structure, while sometimes protective, can also become confining. “Love” is not just a feeling, but a form that changes, hardens, bends, and occasionally breaks under pressure.
