Abstract
My latest artwork is titled "Bad Decisions and Child Support Payments," an 8.5 x 11 inch mixed media piece on cardstock that blends acrylic, ink, and collage elements into a chaotic and expressive abstract composition. The title is not only real but deeply personal, pulled straight from an unforgettable moment during one of my many visits to Gatlinburg. While enjoying a moonshine tasting, I asked the server what one particular flavor tasted like. Without missing a beat, he replied, "Bad Decisions and Child Support Payments." The honesty and humor of that line hit me hard and never left. Eventually, it evolved into this piece, full of layered textures and spontaneous marks that echo the whirlwind of choices and consequences.
This artwork is loud, unapologetic, and full of movement. The collage layers and ink splashes represent both the comedy and chaos wrapped up in the memory and the story that followed. It is abstract, but the narrative behind it gives it weight and personality. There is a little bit of regret and a lot of laughter baked into every brushstroke. With any luck, the sale of this piece and whatever merch comes from it might just circle back to cover those very payments it jokingly references. Art imitating life in the most ironic way.
