Who Were You In The End?
Who Were You In The End?
Mixed Media (Acrylic and Ink) on Cardstock
11” x 8.5”
2025

"Who Were You In The End?" is an 11" x 8.5" mixed media painting created with acrylic and ink on cardstock, exploring the emotional wreckage of human connection. The abstract composition features a swirling chaos of blues, greens, yellow, and copper, each color directionally layered in erratic patterns that evoke a sense of emotional disarray. The dominant blue wash across the center is interrupted by two soft, parallel baby blue marks—subtle but intentional, like remnants of something once aligned. Amid the turbulence, the gold lettering of the titular question, "Who were you in the end?", cuts through like a moment of painful clarity.

The painting grapples with the haunting truth of how intimacy can vanish into estrangement. It reflects on the fragile nature of relationships: how we share our souls, our traumas, our truths—only to one day become strangers again. The chaotic strokes mirror the unraveling of a bond, while the restrained baby blue lines suggest something once stable, now lost. The golden question invites the viewer into a shared moment of reflection, mourning the mystery of someone once known so deeply, now gone. It's a powerful meditation on memory, loss, and the unknowable depths within even our closest connections.
