This is my latest painting titled "Cuban Gator," a five by seven inch acrylic on watercolor paper. It was created as part of my ongoing participation in the Mail Art Movement, through which I continue to share aspects of Florida’s diverse wildlife, cultural roots, political reflections, and community identity with others across the globe. This piece draws from three unmistakable elements of Miami life — alligators, Cuban heritage, and the ever present Cuban cigar. Each is iconic in its own right, but together they form a humorous and affectionate portrait of the city’s character.

In "Cuban Gator," I painted an alligator dressed in what many would recognize as the classic Cuban grandfather outfit. He is seen wearing a floral print Hawaiian style shirt and a tropical fedora hat while puffing on a Cuban cigar. The image feels both nostalgic and lighthearted, pulled straight from the memory of countless family gatherings where everyone from uncles to grandfathers wore some version of that outfit. This piece is both a playful nod to those moments and a love letter to the culture that shaped them.
