This is my latest painting titled "Cardigan," an eight and a half by eleven inch mixed media artwork on cardstock created using acrylic, collage, and gel plate transfer. The piece was made for a dear friend upon request and features a striking portrait of Taylor Swift painted in pearl and black. Over this portrait I layered collaged pieces in bright red along with gold paint to create both texture and contrast, giving the work a sense of depth and richness. The central portrait stands bold in black and white while surrounded by these dynamic colors that emphasize its drama.
To add further dimension, I included the lyrics to "Cardigan" in both gold and black, weaving text into the composition as a way of binding sound and visual form together. The layers of paint, collage, and words create an atmosphere that feels at once intimate and powerful, reflecting the emotional weight of the song. This work captures not only an image of the artist but also the feelings and stories that her music inspires.
