This is my latest mixed media artwork titled "All These Pictures of You," measuring eight and a half by eleven inches. It began as a gel plate print of Robert Smith from The Cure, a continuation of my earlier works inspired by music and its emotional resonance. The original print ripped during the process, much like a previous piece of mine, but instead of seeing the damage as a flaw I embraced it as an opportunity to create something greater. I mounted the torn print onto cardboard for stability and then painted over it in layers, allowing texture and imperfection to guide the direction of the piece.
Rather than repairing the broken sections, I leaned into the theme of fragmentation by writing excerpts from one of my favorite Cure songs, "Pictures of You," directly onto the artwork. This created a dialogue between the ripped image and the lyrical content, mirroring the song’s meditation on memory, longing, and loss. The result is a work that blends music, visual art, and emotion into one layered expression.
