Abstract
This is my latest painting titled "I Stabbath Thee," an eight and a half by eleven inch acrylic on paper. The piece was created over a reused print that originally served as the background for a gel transfer of one of my friend @RasTerms murals. Rather than discarding the red paint covered print, I decided to build on it, using it as a foundation for something new. I worked with leftover paints from other pieces I was creating side by side, developing a rich red textured surface layered with green marker lines and touches of gold paint.
Over this layered background I painted three dagger like black marks, tracing them in white sharpie to sharpen their presence and then surrounding them with gold circles and boundary lines to enhance their energy. The work evolved into a fully abstract composition with depth, rhythm, and intensity. Its title, "I Stabbath Thee," was drawn from my reading of Moby Dick at the time, a phrase that seemed to perfectly capture both the power and visceral quality of the piece.
