"Rusted Out Willie" is an 8.5" x 11" gel plate transfer with acrylic on cardstock, capturing the legendary Willie Nelson lost in the music of his guitar. For this piece, I leaned into a warm desert-inspired palette—tones of tan, beige, and orange blending together like sunbaked earth. Unlike my other prints, I avoided using black, letting the colors seep and merge naturally. The result is an almost ethereal, saintly presence around Willie, as if he’s fading into the very soul of his music, weathered yet timeless, like the open road he’s spent a lifetime traveling.
There’s something poetic about the way this piece came together—faded but full of life, worn yet still singing. Much like Willie himself, it carries the weight of years in every layer, every crack, every imperfect edge. The textures give it the feeling of an old, rusted wall, a relic of something enduring. This one isn't just about an image—it’s about a feeling, a lifetime of stories, and the music that never fades.
