Mixed Media
Night City emerges from one of the artist’s early sketchbooks, offering a glimpse into his formative explorations with mixed media. In this work, diluted acrylics are applied in translucent washes, creating an effect that recalls watercolor’s fluid delicacy. Over this atmospheric ground, collaged imagery—cutouts of New York architecture and the visage of a woman seen through rain—introduce a cinematic quality, at once intimate and urban.
The artist himself has described the piece as existing in an unresolved state, poised between a finished work and a perpetual work-in-progress. Yet it is precisely this sense of incompletion that lends the composition its resonance: Night City becomes a meditation on possibility, on the open-endedness of artistic process, and on the ideas that emerge from what is left undone. Rather than diminish the work, its unfinished quality amplifies its vitality—reminding us that art, like the city itself, is never truly complete but always evolving.
