Flamingo Head
Flamingo Head
Acrylic and Ink on Styrofoam
13.5” x 9”
2024

"Flamingo Head" is a vibrant mixed media piece that measures 13.5" x 9", showcasing a striking depiction of one of South Florida’s most beloved native species. Created with acrylic paint and ink on repurposed Styrofoam, this artwork is part of my one-day painting series, designed to highlight the importance of recycling and upcycling. By transforming discarded materials into captivating art, I aim to inspire others to think creatively about waste reduction and to explore new ways to repurpose everyday items. Each stroke of color captures the essence of the flamingo, celebrating not only its beauty but also the ecological richness of the Everglades, where these elegant birds thrive.

The pink flamingo holds a special place in the hearts of residents in my hometown of Hialeah, and through "Flamingo Head," I hope to encourage appreciation for this iconic bird and its natural habitat. The artwork serves as both an aesthetic expression and a call to action, inviting viewers to consider the impact of their consumption habits on the environment. I urge everyone to explore the Everglades, where you can witness these majestic creatures in their natural surroundings. By recognizing the beauty that surrounds us and embracing sustainable practices, we can work together to protect the wildlife and ecosystems that make our world so vibrant.
