Look Past the Words
Here is my latest artwork titled "Children Are A Gift From The Lord", an 8.5" x 11" acrylic painting on cardstock. The piece features the bust of a toddler in a formal suit, with the face abstractly painted over in vivid, layered colors against an ornate gold background. Across the face, in bold graffiti-style text, are the words "Children Are A Gift From The Lord." The visual contrast between the refined setting and the expressive face aims to capture the tension between how children are often idealized in language but overlooked in practice.
This work is a reflection on the growing neglect children face in today’s society — from underfunded schools and inadequate healthcare to distracted parenting in the age of smartphones and digital noise. It's a call to refocus our collective priorities and recognize the deep responsibility we have toward the youngest members of our communities. Children deserve more than admiration — they deserve our attention, protection, and genuine investment.
