Abstract Glue comes from one of my earliest sketchbooks, created when I was just 19 years old and still learning what it meant to play with materials and ideas. The process was simple: I laid down glue in freeform patterns, let it dry, and then filled the spaces with colored pencil. What emerged felt like an abstract stained glass window—bright, broken shapes contained within lines that weren’t meant to be perfect, but simply to guide.

At the time, I didn’t think of it as anything more than an experiment, but looking back, I see how much it taught me about texture, patience, and transformation. That dried glue—something so ordinary—became the framework for color, light, and movement. Over the years I’ve tried it with gel glue, paints, and watercolors, but the core feeling remains the same: the joy of discovery, of watching something unexpected emerge from a simple act of trying.

This piece reminds me of how important it is to hold onto that spirit of play, to not take the process too seriously, and to always leave space for surprise.
