Hope Hurts, Be Careful
Hope Hurts, Be Careful
Mixed Medium (Acrylic, Ink, Spray Paint) on Cardstock
11” x 8.5”
2025

This is my latest painting, Hope Hurts, Be Careful — an 11" x 8.5" mixed media piece (acrylic, ink, and spray paint on cardstock). It blends elements of graffiti, fine art, and fragments of my own writing. The piece leans heavily into bold blues and reds: “hope hurts” appears in blue to reflect the weight of depression, while “be careful” is painted in red—a vivid, urgent warning.

I created this on a day when I was sitting in the sharp space between hope and heartbreak. That tension—the longing for something better and the ache that comes when it slips away—poured out through every layer. Art continues to be the way I process what words alone can’t hold.
