More Word on the Street
This is my latest painting titled "Hurt," part of my ongoing series "Word on the Street." The series blends abstract art, graffiti, typography, and layered textures to create pieces meant to inspire, motivate, heal, or resonate with whoever comes across them. Each work is influenced by words passed down through family advice, supportive friends, or song lyrics, then shared with the public by leaving them in random places for strangers to find. In this way, the universe—or whatever one believes in—plays a role in connecting each piece to its eventual finder, giving the work a life beyond my hands.
"Hurt" was created on recycled cardboard from packaging materials, continuing my practice of repurposing everyday objects into art. The background mixes beige, gray, and orange tones, creating warmth and contrast. The central word is written in white and traced with gold, giving it both weight and illumination, while a sharp series of blue squares cuts across the piece, adding structure and balance. The combination of color, text, and texture reflects the idea of pain as part of the human experience, but also something that can be transformed into meaning and connection.
