This is my latest painting titled "Burnin' Love," created using a gel plate. It features a close up portrait of Elvis Presley in his Vegas years, captured mid song as he leans into the microphone. Across the image, I layered the lyrics of "Burning Love," with additional lines of text in warm tones flowing to the left, almost like waves of sound radiating outward. His iconic glasses are highlighted in gold with an iridescent glaze over the lenses, adding both dimension and a subtle glow that reflects his legendary stage presence.
The piece was an experimental gel pull created on a sheet of paper that already carried traces of earlier colors, giving the final work unexpected textures and depth. This layered process resulted in an image that feels like a cross between street art and an old photo negative, raw and nostalgic at the same time. It carries both the energy of Elvis’s performance and the sense of memory preserved through abstraction.
