Matt Jams
Matt Jams
Acrylic on Cardstock (Gel Plate)
8.5” x 11”
2025

This is my latest painting, created using a gel plate, titled "Matt Jams." It was part of a series of commissions and for this one I wanted to shift the tone away from the more vibrant and complex styles of the previous works. The background is layered in copper tones with faint, nearly illegible lyrics scattered across in a light iridescent cool shade, giving the surface both depth and texture. Matt himself is painted in bone white with neutral light blue accents, a stripped down palette that highlights the figure without distraction.

The goal of this piece was to capture the spirit of a working man’s musician. Not the polished stage lights or big production performances, but rather the intimate and authentic feeling of a local spot where the music is real, the beer is cold, and the faces are familiar. "Matt Jams" embraces that sense of rawness and honesty, where music exists not for glamour but for connection and community.
