And Away We Go
And Away We Go
Acrylic and Ink on Cardboard
7.75” x 10”
2025

This is my latest artwork titled And Away We Go. It is part of my ongoing effort to keep cardboard out of landfills and is included in my Word on the Street gallery. In this series, I create pieces that feature inspirational phrases, pop culture references, and thought provoking words which I leave as free art in public spaces for others to enjoy. Created mainly in silver and blue, this piece pays tribute to the early graffiti movement of New York in the 1980s, when layers of paint covered the city walls, forming beautifully chaotic and almost abstract surfaces that told the stories of their time.

And Away We Go serves as both a nostalgic nod and a motivational call. The title references Jackie Gleason’s famous phrase as well as the wild and unpredictable energy of Christopher Nolan’s Joker. The work is a playful invitation to move forward, take action, and embrace adventure with energy and purpose. Like the graffiti era it honors, it reminds viewers that art can be spontaneous, public, and filled with meaning beyond the surface.
