Generational Advice
“Gravity Always Wins” is one of those pieces that found me before I even realized I was painting it. Created last September as part of my “Generational Advice” series, this work lives in the space between humor and hard truth. The series captures the sayings passed down through generations, phrases that shaped how we move through the world. Some of them make us laugh, others cut deeper with time, revealing their meaning only as we grow older. Each painting in the collection is my way of preserving those echoes of wisdom and folly that once floated across kitchen tables and front porches.
In this piece, the muted greens and deep blacks form a quiet background where the figure of an elder woman drifts in thought. Her words—“Gravity always wins and we fall back down to Earth”—float above her in purple and white, a gentle reminder that no matter how high we reach, humility and reality always find their way back to us. It is a nod to the beauty in acceptance, the poetry in falling, and the lessons that never lose their pull.
