“We’ve Got Tonight” is my tribute to the late, great Kenny Rogers, a man whose voice carried both warmth and ache, whose songs painted stories of love, loss, and longing. For this piece, I wanted to capture the spirit of his 1980s era, that golden moment in his career when his music bridged generations. The background glows with an iridescent mix of aqua and pink tones, echoing the nostalgic light of that decade, while Kenny himself is painted in silver—a deliberate choice to give him that timeless, platinum presence, as though he is forever illuminated by the music he left behind.
I titled the piece “We’ve Got Tonight” after one of his most beautiful songs, a reminder of how fleeting yet powerful human connection can be. Like the song, the painting lives in that quiet space between hope and melancholy, where art and memory intertwine. It celebrates not only Kenny’s artistry but also the emotional honesty he brought to every performance.
