Alligator Alcatraz
Alligator Alcatraz
Acrylic on Cardstock (Gel Plate)
5” x 7”
2025

This is my patest painting called "Alligator Alcatraz" which I created for the mail art movement where I share South Florida stories, people, flora, fauna and more with artists around the world. I encourage all artists to look up ceramink and sign up. The painting is a comical depiction of an alligator dressed in a police uniform guarding a prison set in the middle of the Everglades. If you have never heard of it you can look up Alligator Alcatraz on your own. The character and setting offer a playful twist on local folklore while still grounding the scene in the unique landscape of South Florida.

In the US there are ongoing debates and protests surrounding immigration, reform, and how to navigate these issues moving forward. Wherever anyone stands on the matter I believe it deserves thoughtful conversation on all sides and a deeper look at how we approach both policy and the lives of the people affected by it. Art can serve as a bridge for dialogue and this piece invites viewers to reflect on these broader themes through humor and storytelling.
