More Word on the Street
This piece is part of my Word on the Street series, where I leave small works with emotional or uplifting messages in random public places for anyone who happens to discover them. In Be Kind Have Patience, I wanted the message to feel both direct and layered, so I placed bold script lettering over a shifting field of color. The words rest on broad strokes of red, green, blue, and white that I blended and scraped until they created a sense of movement and warmth. The contrast between the dark lettering and the glowing background makes the message feel as if it is rising from the atmosphere behind it.
The process was fluid and intuitive. I built the background with loose strokes, letting the colors mix freely before adding more defined marks to guide the viewer’s eye. When the surface felt alive, I added the lettering in sweeping lines that required both focus and confidence. Beneath the main message, in soft blue cursive, you can faintly see the phrase everything balances out, a quiet reminder that in the end things tend to find their way.
