Midnight In Abilene
Midnight In Abilene
Acrylic on Cardstock (Gel Plate)
8.5” x 11”
2025

This is my latest fantasy painting called Midnight in Abilene. It depicts a frontiersman skeleton holding two revolvers high, emerging from a muted and deep range of blues. I have always loved fantasy art, comics, and stories from the old west since I was a kid, and those influences guided the mood of this piece. I wanted the environment to feel quiet yet charged, as if the night itself were holding its breath while this figure appeared.

I imagined the scene as a moment when an outlaw or murderer wakes in the middle of the night to find the skeleton of someone wronged long ago rising before him in a final act of justice. The painting carries that sense of ghostly reckoning, creating a mix of tension, mystery, and dark folklore.
