What’s Up Elephant Butt
What’s Up Elephant Butt
Acrylic on Cardstock
8” x 10”
2025

This painting began as a moment of pure play. What’s Up Elephant Butt came from letting go of intention and allowing instinct, humor, and curiosity to lead the way. I approached the canvas without a destination, responding instead to movement, texture, and the way color collides when it is given permission to be loud, awkward, and unapologetic. The title reflects that spirit, reminding me that art does not always need to be solemn to be honest.

The layered arcs, scraped passages, and bursts of saturated color echo the chaos of observation and memory overlapping in real time. There is a sense of motion here, almost like something half-recognized passing through the frame, abstracted beyond certainty. Shapes suggest form without committing to it, inviting the viewer to laugh, question, or project their own meaning into the space. For me, it is about embracing ambiguity and finding joy in the unresolved.

At its core, this piece is a reminder to not take ourselves too seriously. It celebrates experimentation, imperfection, and the freedom that comes from creating without expectation. What’s Up Elephant Butt exists to disrupt preciousness, to make room for spontaneity, and to honor the simple act of showing up and making something honest, even if it is a little ridiculous.
