William and Julieth
William and Julieth
Acrylic on Cardstock (Gel Plate)
8.5” x 11”
2026

This is my latest painting titled William and Julieth which serves as an intimate portrait of a mother alongside her son who is a fallen soldier (not seen). I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like to experience what they have gone through recently. Life is hard and sometimes harder still. It is a profound honor to create work that touches on such deeply personal and challenging aspects of the human experience.

What I can say and will share is that they have handled this incredibly difficult period with a love and grace that is truly inspirational to witness. Both she and her daughter chose to embrace love and happiness despite this tragedy. Their live videos posts and conversations consistently honor his legacy and his life as they share these memories daily. Seeing their strength has been a moving experience for me as an artist.

Their enduring connection lent itself directly to the title of this piece because I do not believe him to have left us entirely but instead he has transitioned. Thanks to his amazing family and countless friends he remains a very large part of this world. For him and for all others who have served or are currently serving thank you for your sacrifice and dedication.
