I am pleased to introduce my latest painting titled Drop Bass Not Hate. This work features a reimagining of Abraham Lincoln as a way to bridge the gap between historical weight and modern cultural expression. As a fine artist I am constantly seeking new ways to challenge my creative boundaries by placing iconic figures in unexpected contexts. By depicting one of our most significant presidents with a boombox I want to explore the idea of unity through the universal language of music.
The piece utilizes the gritty and layered textures that are a signature part of my aesthetic at Elvis Santana Art. I chose a palette of deep blues and dark tones to create a moody atmosphere that allows the bold lettering and the figure to stand out. The phrase at the bottom serves as a modern call to action that transforms the somber portrait into a vibrant statement of peace and rhythm. Each layer of paint was applied to create a sense of history while maintaining a contemporary and energetic feel.
This portrait fits into my ongoing series of cultural icons and historical figures who have shaped our collective journey. Whether I am focusing on Rosa Parks or Einstein I aim to capture the essence of the person while offering a fresh perspective on their legacy. My goal is to create art that encourages viewers to look at the past with a sense of wonder and relevance to our lives today. Thank you for following my journey as I continue to share these unique stories through paint and texture.
