I am delighted to share my latest piece titled Kitty Catrina which is a very special project close to my heart. As we celebrate love this season I wanted to create a unique ode to my beautiful daughter who absolutely adores cats. Since I have a deep love for traditional Catrinas I decided to merge our passions into a single image. This painting represents a playful fusion of Mexican culture with the charm of feline aesthetics and the expressive nature of anime to create something truly one of a kind.
The composition features large and vibrant green eyes that draw inspiration from Japanese animation to give the face a sense of innocence and wonder. I incorporated heart shapes into the sugar skull makeup design on the forehead and chin to emphasize the theme of love and affection suited for the holiday. The background is washed in a cool teal which contrasts with the warm reds and pinks of the roses and the makeup details. It was a joy to balance the classic elements of the skeleton with the sweetness of a kitten face.
This work stands out in my collection as it is a direct message of love to my family. While I often explore historical figures or abstract themes through Elvis Santana Art this piece allowed me to be whimsical and personal. I hope this unique blend of styles brings a smile to your face just as I know it will to my daughter. Thank you for letting me share this personal side of my creative journey with you all.
