The Green House
The Green House
Acrylic on Cardstock (Gel Plate)
8.5” x 11”
2026

This is my latest painting titled The Green House. With this piece I wanted to explore a sense of immersion and the overlapping relationship between human figures and the natural environments we cultivate. The composition features a central figure draped in a vibrant golden yellow garment which creates a sharp focal point against the surrounding sea of deep greens and botanical textures. I intended for the structure of the greenhouse in the background to feel both protective and ethereal as if the architecture itself is beginning to blend into the sky.

The technical process for this work involved layering rich organic tones to create a tactile quality that mimics the feeling of dense foliage. By utilizing a stippled texture on the face and skin of the figure I aimed to mask specific identity and instead focus on the universal experience of being lost in a moment of growth. The choice of a muted blue for the upper architectural details provides a cooling contrast to the warmth of the yellow dress which helps to balance the visual weight of the scene. It was important to me that the leaves in the foreground felt chaotic and alive as they rise up to meet the subject.

Ultimately this painting is a reflection on sanctuary and the quiet beauty found within glass walls. It captures a dreamlike state where the boundaries between the person and the garden start to dissolve into a single harmonious narrative. I hope that those who view it feel a sense of tranquility and the same connection to the earth that I felt while bringing this vision to life. This work continues my exploration of how environment shapes our internal world and provides a space for silent contemplation. Thank you for taking this journey into the green house with me.
