This latest piece, "A Caterpillar Fighting Crabs," is a striking departure into a more chaotic, abstract energy. The composition is built on a foundation of deep teals and mossy greens that feel appropriately "undergrowth," but it’s the aggressive pops of crimson and gestural white streaks that really sell the conflict implied by the title. There is a tactile, raw quality to the layering here—the way the gold-toned brushwork dances between the heavier blocks of color suggests a frantic, shimmering movement, perfectly capturing a high-stakes struggle in a miniature world.

The tension in the work comes from the balance between fluid motion and sharp, deliberate marks. While the background feels atmospheric and vast, the "crabs" are felt through the sharp, pincer-like red forms that seem to be closing in from multiple angles. Meanwhile, the caterpillar’s presence is less about a literal body and more about the winding, energetic white and yellow lines that navigate the danger. It’s an evocative exploration of survival, using a street-art-influenced texture to turn a small biological battle into something that feels epic and universal.
