"Carunpipo" is an exploration of organic flow and hidden structures, where I have leaned into an intuitive process of layering and mark making. Much like the composition itself, the title carries a wonderful abstract quality that came directly from the imagination of my children. I have found a great deal of freedom in letting them name these recent works, as their perspective often uncovers a sense of playfulness and innocence that perfectly complements the raw and gritty nature of my materials. I created this piece on the back of a discarded cardboard box that originally held Bubly water, embracing the industrial texture of the found object to add a unique layer of history and grit to the final narrative.

The painting features a sequence of overlapping, dark skeletal forms that seem to drift across a background of muted teals and sun bleached neutrals, creating a visual rhythm that feels both ancient and contemporary. I utilized a mix of gestural brushwork and tactile textures to give these abstract shapes a physical presence, contrasted against the inherent geometry and grain of the cardboard. Subtly scattered white dots and fine yellow rays evoke a sense of movement and energy, suggesting a hidden, microscopic world captured in a brief moment of transformation. By transforming an everyday, utilitarian object into a work of art, I hope to invite the viewer to find beauty in the unexpected and celebrate the unpredictable flow of creativity.
