With my latest painting, "WTF Larry," I'm delving into the complex and often overlooked issue of homelessness (more appropriately and respectfully said, houselessness). Drawing from my five years working in Miami Beach and several others in Hialeah, I've had numerous interactions with unhoused individuals, each with their own unique story. Some faced the expected social issues that can lead to homelessness, while others struggled with mental illness. However, I also met many who simply needed a break, a little bit of help to get back on their feet. These encounters left a lasting impression on me, and I wanted to capture the range of experiences and emotions I witnessed.

In "WTF Larry," I've tried to portray the frustration and weariness that can accompany the search for a way out of homelessness. The title itself, a direct question to an imaginary individual named Larry, reflects this sentiment. However, amidst the depiction of struggles, I've also aimed to convey a message of hope. Having seen firsthand come back stories of success, I believe that a little help goes a long way. The painting serves as a reminder of the human element in the issue of homelessness and the potential for positive change with compassion and support.
