My latest portrait, titled "Woman" is an introspective, mixed-media homage inspired by John Lennon's iconic 1980 ballad of the same name. Grounded on an earthy cardboard substrate, the piece captures a quiet, vulnerable fragment of portraiture, focusing on a single, wide eye peering out from a torn, silver-toned profile. The artwork serves as an intimate meditation on gratitude, emotion, and the profound impact of women who shape and guide our lives.
Flowing across both the portrait and the textured background is bold, handwritten cursive rendered in vibrant cerulean blue ink. Transcribing the unmistakable opening lines of Lennon’s track, the script reads: "Woman, I can hardly express my mixed emotions and my thoughtlessness... After all, I'm forever in your debt... And woman, I will try to express my inner feelings and my thankfulness for showing me the meaning of success." By integrating the lyrical confession directly onto the surface, the piece blurs the boundary between visual art and musical poetry.
