Born from the spontaneous overflow of the studio process, Windows To The Soul (2009) began on a spare piece of canvas that absorbed leftover paint and runoff from other works. Working on multiple pieces at once often sparks unexpected magic, turning excess drips and accidental washes into fertile ground for creative experimentation. Out of this fluid rhythm emerged an abstract composition defined by playful intuition and structural curiosity.
The artwork’s visual rhythm hinges on the dynamic interplay between loose, dripping layers and deliberate geometric division. Using masking tape to carve out crisp white linear borders, the composition sections off atmospheric fields of color, creating literal and figurative "windows" across the surface. An unconventional palette of soft yellows, deep earthy browns, and refreshing baby blue harmonizes unexpectedly, producing a balanced tension between warm warmth, cool openness, and grounded structure.
Beyond its technical spontaneity, the piece carries a rich personal history. Held in the private collection of a dear friend, Mike, who has treasured it over the years and brings it out to reminisce, the painting embodies the camaraderie and stories embedded within an artist's journey—even if getting permission to take its official measurements might require a trade and a few rounds at the local watering hole.
