More Abstract
My abstract piece, "A Spooky House," features a structured interplay of geometric shapes, rich textures, and bold contrasts. Set against a dark, ink-like indigo backdrop, a series of hand-drawn yellow and gold boxes glow like illuminated windows scattered across a shadowy facade. To the right, a vibrant teal column peppered with fine blue stippling stretches vertically, anchored by concentric circular rings that lend a sense of architectural balance and mysterious rhythm to the composition.
The title, "A Spooky House," was randomly chosen by my young son, whom I love sharing my abstract works with. Allowing him to name my pieces brings the pure, uninhibited wonder of a toddler's imagination into my creative process. Through his eyes, the glowing yellow compartments against the dark, moody background instantly transformed from abstract motifs into a mysterious, haunted abode filled with glowing windows and secret rooms.
Warm pink and coral hues peek through the surrounding borders, bringing a grounding warmth to the deep navy and dark blues dominating the canvas. "A Spooky House" bridges deliberate abstract exploration with the delightful storytelling of a child's mind, inviting viewers to step inside and explore the mystery from a fresh, imaginative perspective.
