Down To The Bones
As part of the collection "The Inside Joke: Down To The Bones," "Hollow Appetite" builds upon the artistic foundation established last year with the well-received exhibition, "The Inside Joke: The Bare Bones of Narcissism." This year's series expands its scope far beyond narcissism to confront other dark, complex areas of the human condition and psyche. With "Hollow Appetite," the focus turns toward the painful reality of eating disorders and anorexia.
In this poignant work, a skeletal figure with long hair dressed in a bright yellow top sits resting her head in her hands, staring intently down at a bowl on the table before her. Set against rich green and blue tones, the composition captures the isolating psychological fixation, exhaustion, and internal battle surrounding food and body image. The literal bare-bones motif strips away outer illusions to expose the deep emotional weight and physical vulnerability that accompany anorexia.
By bringing your signature skeletal iconography to the struggle of eating disorders, "Hollow Appetite" offers a raw, empathetic look at a deeply personal fight for control and sustenance. It stands as a powerful reflection within the gallery, honoring the unspoken turmoil and holding up a compassionate mirror to a pervasive struggle.
