As part of the collection "The Inside Joke: Down To The Bones," "Where The Adoration Used To Live" directly revisits the core theme that launched last year's well-received exhibition, "The Inside Joke: The Bare Bones of Narcissism." While this year's series broadens its focus across a wider spectrum of dark, complex facets of the human condition, this piece turns back to narcissism to examine the quiet, inevitable crisis that unfolds as physical beauty fades with age.

In this evocative portrait, an elderly skeletal figure with short white hair sits quietly by a lace-curtained window, resting her head on a hand in melancholic contemplation beside a vase of vibrant flowers. The composition explores the steep emotional decline narcissists experience when youth and superficial charm no longer command automatic attention or supply. Deprived of the external validation they spent a lifetime relying on, they are left to confront the painful silence left in its place.

By applying signature skeletal iconography to the passage of time and vanity, "Where The Adoration Used To Live" strips away external facades to reveal the deep isolation underneath. It stands as a haunting, reflective contribution to the gallery, holding up a poignant mirror to the fragile nature of a life built solely around superficial worship.
