“Ruthy” is my latest piece—an 8.5" x 11" work created with Acrylin on cardstock using a gel plate technique. It’s a vibrant tribute to one of my newest friends, a coworker, and a fellow Nicaraguan Sagittarius (yes, another fire sign—God help us all). She was the first person I met at my new job, always offering help and greeting the world with that signature smile. Over the past year, she’s gone from being a friendly face to someone I chat with daily, swap stories with, and occasionally share a drink (or two) and a laugh—or a tear.
I chose soft pastel beige and a bold, vibrant yellow to reflect her unique energy—both grounding and electric. “Ruthy” radiates the spirit of someone who lives with relentless joy, boundless curiosity, and a hunger for fun and meaning. Every color choice and texture in this piece is a nod to the fire she brings into every space she walks into. Here's to friendship, fire signs, and the kind of people who turn every moment into a memory.
