Khuba
Mixed Media (Acrylic, Ink, Spray Paint) on Photo Paper
8.5” x 11”
2025

My artwork "Khuba" is an 8.5" x 11" mixed media piece on photo paper, blending acrylic, ink, and spray paint into a textured, graffiti-inspired expression. The background is rich with layers—rolled black paint sets a gritty foundation, splattered olive green and orange add bursts of chaotic energy, and painted clay brown gives it an earthy, grounded tone. Over this vivid and raw surface, the word "Khuba" is boldly written in graffiti style, commanding attention with its streetwise presence and emotional resonance.

"Khuba" stands for love in the North African and Middle Eastern linguistic tradition—specifically derived from Arabic (حب, hubb or khuba in dialectal variants). This piece isn’t about a polished or romanticized version of love—it’s about love in its toughest, rawest form. It’s the love that persists through struggle, the kind that shows up when things are messy and real. The urban aesthetic and layered grunge textures reflect that intensity—how love, like art, often emerges not from perfection, but from survival, resilience, and expression in the face of adversity.
