Fantasy, Mythology and Science Fiction
This is my latest painting titled "Social Medialyte," created as a commentary on the hollow and vapid nature of modern societal trends. The work focuses on how much of today’s youth culture centers around selfies and self promotion rather than real presence and connection to the world around them. It is a visual critique of a digital era that rewards surface over substance, where validation often comes in the form of likes rather than meaningful experiences.
In the painting, I used a metallic aqua for the dress worn by a skeleton figure topped with a vivid yellow hat. These choices are not random. The shimmer of the aqua plays on the allure of digital glamour, while the skeleton hints at the lifelessness beneath the curated image. The yellow hat adds a layer of irony, suggesting brightness and trendiness masking emptiness. There are layers to this piece, and multiple themes lie beneath the surface. If you take the time to look beyond the obvious, you might catch the full scope of the joke and message.
